2. Leave Of Absence

Need to take time away to care for yourself or a qualified family member?

PetSmart know that life happens, and it’s important for you to take the time you need. The PetSmart Leave of Absence team is there to help you navigate taking time away from work.

✓ Associates may be eligible for a period of job-protected unpaid leave for certain family and medical reasons such as:

A serious health condition which renders the associate unable to perform his/her job

To bond with a new child through birth, adoption, or foster care

To care for an immediate family member
A deployment of an eligible family member in the U.S. military

To be eligible for FMLA leave, an associate must have worked for PetSmart for at least 12 months and must have worked 1,250 hours during the 12-month period prior to the start date of any leave request.

FlexSmart operates understand a simple premise – associates are expected to consistently perform exceptional work that advances our mission and vision.

Sometimes, this can be accomplished with a flexible work schedule. A flexible schedule can mean many things, including telecommuting and working non-traditional business hours.

4. PetSmart Savesmart 401k

It’s never too early to start saving for your future, and it’s easy with the SaveSmart 401(k) Plan. When you enroll, you decide how much to contribute to the plan through easy payroll deductions – from 1 to 50 percent of your pay up to the IRS annual maximum.

And you get to take advantage of the many benefits this plan provides, including tax savings, free money from PetSmart, and a choice of investment options that allow you to create your own personalized investment strategy.

You can participate in the plan if you are 18 years of age or older and have completed two months of employment with PetSmart.

5. PetSmart Health Savings Account

A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a tax-advantaged account established to pay for qualified medical expenses for those who are covered under the UHC Choice Plus High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP).

With the money from this account, you can pay for health care expenses until your deductible is met.

Then, in accordance with the terms of the HDHP, UHC pays for covered expenses in excess of your deductible.

Any unused funds are yours to retain in your HSA and accumulate toward your future health care expenses or your retirement.

Your HSA account comes with an Optum Financial bank account. When you enroll in the HDHP, you’ll need to open an HSA with Optum Financial.

Optum will send you a Welcome Kit. The amount you contribute to your HSA through payroll deduction will be deposited into your Optum Financial HSA. You’ll be issued an HSA debit card to pay for your eligible health care expenses.

6. PetSmart Associates Assistance Foundation

Helping their fellow associates is an important part of PetSmart’s culture and that’s why we set up the PetSmart Associate Assistance Foundation (PAAF). Since 2011,

PAAF has been turning hardship into hope by providing emergency services and short-term financial relief to PetSmart associates facing financial hardship following an unforeseen crisis.

PAAF is funded by donations from PetSmart, and their associates, to help one another in their time of need.

Eligibility:

The application for a grant from PAAF is open to all PetSmart associates who are experiencing extreme hardships due to a qualifying triggering event, regardless if you are part-time or full-time, hourly or salary.

How To Apply:

To apply for a grant from PAAF, please visit our internal Fetch site or reach out to the PAAF administrator at paaf@petsmart.com for a manual grant request form.

Currently, an associate may be issued a grant, once within a 12- month period, for a lifetime maximum of 3 grants or $7500 – whichever comes first.

Requests may take up to five (5) to seven (7) business days to process, but may take longer if required documentation is not submitted in a timely manner.

Through Ally, PetSmart employee assistance program (EAP), are here for you. They offer a variety of helpful resources to support you and your family throughout different stages of your life.
