How To Use Ucsd VPN Services During Remote Work ?
According To Ucsd, In response to the surge in remote workers, IT Services has significantly upgraded the capacity and performance of the VPN service.
• As such you should feel free to rely on the VPN anytime you are working remotely.
• When connected to the Ucsd VPN using the 2-Step Secured – allthruucsd group, all of the traffic to and from your home or remote computer has malware filtered exactly as any on-campus computer does.
• However, the Ucsd VPN should not be used when you are not working, such as when a family member is using your personal computer.
• Note that most academic and student services do not not require you to be logged in to Ucsd VPN.
• Faculty and staff are encouraged to use the Ucsd VPN when working on administrative activities.

• The UCSD VPN creates a virtual private connection over public networks using encryption and other security checks to help protect against computer data transmission interception.
• It also helps ensure only authorized users on Ucsd VPN can access campus networks.
• With Ucsd VPN, network computing traffic between your remote machine (off-campus or wireless) and campus passes over a single, encrypted connection, and your remote machine has a UCSD IP address.
Ucsd VPN Services
• Any Connect- Cisco software VPN client which offers the maximum capabilities and performance.
• Easy Connect – web-based VPN portal at https://vpn.ucsd.edu, which allows secure access to many campus services, electronic library resources, and remote desktop computing without requiring the installation of a software client.
How To Setup Ucsd VPN Services
• With Ucsd VPN AnyConnect client — Download the client for secure access to UCSD services, including Library resources using:
• Conventional installation:
• Windows 8 and 10 (Support Portal)
• Windows 7
• Mac OS X 10.10 and Above
• Chromebook
• GNU / Linux
• EasyConnect Web interface to access UCSD services (except the Libraries) — allows you to easily and securely access UCSD services without installing the client.
Mac OS X users: EasyConnect Web interface should only be used with computers running Mac OS X 10.8 and newer. Older versions of Mac OS X are no longer supported.
Setup Ucsd VPN
Step 1: Go to https://vpn.ucsd.edu
2. Enter your Active Directory (AD) username and password.
3. Select EasyConnect from the Group drop-down menu, and click Sign On.
4. You now can access campus services by clicking a link from their list, such as:
Campus Exchange (Outlook Web Access)
Campus Network Status
5. Link Family (FinancialLink, TravelLink, etc.)
6. SysWiki (for campus system administrators)
7. You can also access services by typing a URL in the Address field.

Ucsd VPN Pools
The Ucsd VPN service offers the ability to create department-specific pools, which can be used to control access to departmental resources.
Please contact your IT support staff for additional information on accessing or using their VPN pools for your department.
If you do not have IT support staff, then contact the ITS Service Desk.
To access a VPN pool, when logging in to the Ucsd VPN, enter your username followed by “@” the pool name.
For example, to access the ITS pool, enter “username@ITS”.
Ucsd Library VPN

Ucsd Health Insurance
UC San Diego Health accepts most major health insurance plans, but it is the patient’s responsibility to call the health plans and verify that UC San Diego is an in-network provider for your particular plan.
Even if your insurance plan is on the list below, it may not cover all Ucsd services or clinic locations.
To verify your coverage, call your insurance company and provide these UCSD tax ID numbers:

UCSD Health insurance is required for all undergraduate, graduate, and professional students as a non-academic condition of enrollment.
All students paying full registration fees to UC San Diego are automatically enrolled into the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) as part of the enrollment process each quarter (fall, winter, and spring).
Students who are enrolled in SHIP for spring quarter have continued coverage during the summer, up to the start of SHIP for fall quarter.
What UCSD Student Health Insurance Plan Offers:
• Worldwide coverage year-round for a moderate premium and low annual deductible.
• Premiums that are automatically assessed as part of registration fees each quarter.
• Many no-cost services at Student Health Services (SHS) to students enrolled in the plan.
Note: Students currently covered by an insurance plan may qualify for a health fee waiver. To apply for the health fee waiver, students must submit an online waiver application by the applicable deadline. See Waiving UC SHIP at the SHS website for more information.
• If your insurance plan does not meet the university’s minimum requirements, you are not eligible for a waiver and are required to have SHIP. Students who are eligible for the waiver but do not submit a waiver by the appropriate deadline will be automatically enrolled in SHIP.
